DESIGN
It features a full metal, Aluminium Alloy, unibody design, available in 3 colours – Lavender Purple, Graphite Grey and Mint Green.
It feels really good to hold, quite light, and surprisingly premium. The bezels are the same all the way around, and pretty thin. The rear camera module looks nice and doesn’t stick out much.
I can’t complain about the design at all, it definitely feels more premium than its price suggests!
EVERYDAY USE
It can multi-task with ease, including split-screening apps, floating windows etc. In terms of speed, I’ve used a Samsung Galaxy S9 Tablet and an IPad Pro, you can’t expect it to be as smooth as those, however…it feels smooth, especially if you consider the price difference between the aforementioned tablets. I’m actually amazed at how well the processor copes with multiple tasks, keeping apps running in the background etc.
The speakers are surprisingly good too. I’ve used much more expensive laptops, which sound A LOT worse. Is it the best sound? As always, if you have a bluetooth speaker or headphones (can even use wired ones with the 3.5mm headphone jack) they of course sound superior, but to listen to an odd song, or watch a YouTube video or film on Netflix? The speakers are definitely good enough.
Gaming wise, its fine, I’m not a huge fan of tablet gaming, I tried OSRS, Asphalt Legends and Genshin Impact, OSRS runs perfect, Asphalt runs fine in 30 FPS and Genshin is playable with low settings, if you remember its no RedMagic Astra gaming tablet, it’ll play games, just in low quality.
Battery life is solid, and stays working for ages, as expected for an 8000mAh battery, which is needed, because the charging speed at 10W is poor. What more can you expect from a budget tablet though?
It can get warm, not hot, when pushed to its limits, particularly towards the upper left hand side, near the 8MP back camera, but its definitely usable still.
As for the camera’s, they’re fine. They’ll do the job for taking a photo, or a video call. Don’t expect either to be the highest quality though.
It can also be used with a capacitive pen if needed, although I am yet to try that (I will update this when I have)
It does come with some bloatware, but a lot of it, not all, can be uninstalled, so its not too bad.
I really like the screen. Yes its just LCD, not OLED, but the viewing angles are good, the colours pop, and it gets bright enough.
It runs Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0, on Android 15, and its a very pleasant and intuitive OS to use, no complaints.
Price
I paid just £99 for a 8GB/256GB version, in the Lavender colour. I think it can go without saying – the price for a tablet this size, and this capable, is a fantastic deal – and its still available on sale, on Xiaomi’s website!
VERDICT
This tablet is outstanding value for money. It can handle basically everything you throw at it. If you don’t quite expect it to be an IPad Pro or a Ultra Galaxy Tab, you will not be disappointed. A very easy 5 stars, in my opinion.
